Where it all started
Being the daughter of dairy farmers led me to develop a deep appreciation for the men and women that feed us. Growing up on the family farm is an experience that I cherish and thank my parents for providing. I didn't know it then, but my childhood was setting the foundation for an entrepreneurial future that incorporates agriculture, family, and my Dutch heritage.
The Netherlands
In our creamery, a canvas picture of my Opa (grandfather) van Bedaf hangs above the fireplace. My parents began their dairy farming journey on the same farm as my opa. This farm was located near Rijsbergen in the country of the Netherlands. This geographically small country has a rich tradition of dairy excellence, but farmland is highly sought after. My parents decided to look for more space to grow their herd, and to provide an opportunity for their children to continue the family legacy if they chose to do so. The difficult decision to leave their home country led to Canada. They expanded their herd and operated a dairy farm in Alberta for 8 years.
Finally, in 2008, my family moved to North Dakota. Their dream of building a farm that can include the next generation has come true.
Bringing it home
Visiting with our family and friends is a highlight of traveling back to the Netherlands. Some of my fondest memories involve going to the gelato shops and creameries with my Omas and Opas and savoring tasty treats and good company. I realized I wanted to share this feeling in North Dakota. I hope that our products and our farmstead become part of your very own memories with friends and family alike.
