Owner of Duchessa Gelato/Cows and Co Creamery named Forbes 30 under 30
Maartje was born on her family's dairy farm in the Netherlands but moved to the U.S. at age 7. Her family now operates a dairy in central North Dakota, which she has been using milk from and transforming into artisanal gelato sold at her shop, called Duchessa Gelato, since 2018. Every week she hand-packs thousands of pints, with flavors like Dutch Chocolate and Salted Butter Caramel. On a farm she now owns with her husband, van Bedaf, known as Maartje, is making a new line of artisanal Gouda Cheese made in the Dutch tradition.

We visited your cafe and store on 10/21/23. It was wonderful. The burger and cheese curds top rate. But that gelato wozer. Everything was so clean and fresh. A great outting for a fall day.
